The Hotel Collins Hobart is a great new addition to the Hobart Hotel scene. We trialled this hotel with an anonymous visit in June 2010. Not only was the hotel near brand new, but Hobart actually put on some great weather. We were allocated a Club Room on the 10th floor (top) so we were expecting good things however the view was a little average as it faced onto a large beige building which ruined alot of the views. We could see Mount Wellington though and a little bit of the Tasman Bridge. The rooms were reasonably small, but enough for a short stay or business travel. Rooms are very modern with new furniture a large LCD wall mounted TV and desk area. Rooms were well stocked with coffee, plunger tea, spirits, wine, beer and if that doesnt suffice, the hotel has a room service menu which lasts well into the night. The bed was comfy and a good size. Bathroom was modern with a shower over the bath. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful and car parking is behind the hotel at a rate of $8 per day. The hotel has a cafe on the ground floor which is great for breakfast or an afternoon coffee with daily papers and magazines supplied. In all, the Hotel Collins is a nice modern hotel, reasonably priced, located 5 mins to the city centre of Hobart and 10 mins walk to Salamanca Place. Great for business travel or a weekend away.
